British rower Helen Glover has been announced as patron of Minerva Bath Rowing Club, where she learned to row.
Glover won the first Team GB gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics with partner Heather Stanning, and the world championships this year with partner Polly Swann. She commented 'Clubs like Minerva require hard work, a lot of commitment and endless hours from many volunteers doing a lot of thankless tasks in the background so that everyone can row and train and progress... I hope that the City of Bath really gets behind this initiative which is already supported by Sport England'.
